Share of the Work Force in a Union Falls to a 97- Year Low, 11.3%
Unions are losing their ground in states across the country. Union members fell by 400,000 last year to 14.3 million. Unions are down to their lowest membership since 1916. Labor specialists speculate laws rolling back the power of Unions in states like Wisconsin and Indiana have something to do with decreased membership. Reducing collective bargaining rights and enacting the right to work, could be causing workers to lose sight of what the unions believe are their value propositions.
Unfortunately, Georgia is one state that has increased Union membership, but one can hope eventually the perspective other states with decreasing membership, will eventually catch on. Read more here.
